A remarkable group of musicians has united for a powerful cause, coming together for two concerts under the banner of FireAid. Held at the Kia Forum and the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Los Angeles, the events were organized to support relief efforts following the devastating wildfires earlier this month that claimed 29 lives and caused billions in damage.
Green Day kicked off the Forum show with their song "Last Night on Earth", featuring a surprise appearance by Billie Eilish. They followed up with their anthem "Still Breathing" from their 2016 album Revolution Radio, and their iconic 1994 hit "When I Come Around" from Dookie.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage at the Kia Forum alongside Alanis Morissette, No Doubt, Joni Mitchell, Stephen Stills, and John Mayer, while Dr. Dre and Sheila E. made surprise appearances with Anderson .Paak.
But easily the most memorable moment of the night, The surviving members of Nirvana—Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic, and former touring guitarist Pat Smear—reunited for a performance. They performed four classic Nirvana tracks, joined by a lineup of guest vocalists. St. Vincent kicked off the set with a cover of "Breed", while Kim Gordon took the lead on "School". Joan Jett led a powerful rendition of "Territorial Pissings", and Dave Grohl’s daughter, Violet Grohl, closed out the segment with a heartfelt performance of "All Apologies".
