A television series based on Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's cult film 'What We Do in the Shadows' has been ordered for American network FX.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, FX has handed a 10-episode order for the comedy, which will be written by Clement and directed by Waititi.
Sky Television has confirmed the series will screen in New Zealand on SoHo.
Due for autumn 2019, the series of half-hour episodes will expand the story of the film, which follows three vampires who have been flatmates for hundreds of years.
Producing the series will be Waititi, Clement and Paul Simms ('Flight of the Conchords', 'Atlanta') alongside Scott Rudin ('Annihilation', 'Lady Bird') with Garrett Basch and Eli Bush.
The news comes during a busy time for the 'What We Do in the Shadows' team.
Clement has recently been on tour for 'Flight of the Conchords', reviving the duo for an hour-long special for HBO to air in May.
Waititi, fresh off the success of 'Thor: Ragnarok', has announced his next film 'Jojo Rabbit', while star Jackie van Beek has just released her co-directorial effort 'The Breaker Uppererers' to rave reviews.
