With the release of their forthcoming new album OK Orchestra next month, AJR is sharing another taste of the project with their newest single "Way Less Sad."
"Way Less Sad" talks about not feeling your happiest, but as the song title suggests, feeling way less sad and lowering your standards. In the track, the band's Jack Met sings lyrics like, "And I don't wanna hurt no more/ So I set my bar real low" and "I wake up/ And I'm not so mad at Twittеr now/ Living sucks/ But it's sucking just a little now."
The band exclusively told iHeartRadio of their new song, "'Way Less Sad' is a song not quite about being doomed anymore, but not being all the way better. And it's kind of celebrating that weird little compromise in between."
"Way Less Sad" will be included in AJR's OK Orchestra album, which is set to be released on March 26th. OK Orchestra is the trio's fourth full-length album, following 2019's Neotheater, and showcases 13 new songs including the previously released "Bang!," "Bummerland" and "My Play."
In a press release, AJR explained of OK Orchestra, "In the most uncertain year of our lives, making OK Orchestra was the one certain thing we had to hold on to. We ended up with the most sonically experimental and emotionally raw album we've ever made."
The band added on social media of the project, "It’s been a year in the making, and after 12 emotionally cathartic months, it’s turned into possibly our favorite album we’ve ever made."
