Dave Grohl and Nandi Bushell's drum battle is the feel good story we all needed this year, and during a visit to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert the Foo Fighters frontman not only praised the 10-year-old prodigy — he also conceded defeat.
“She’s beating the crap out of her drum set, and when she does drum rolls, she screams,” Grohl said, recalling watching Bushell's cover of Nirvana's "In Bloom." “I was like, oh my God, this kid is a force of nature.”
“There was nothing I could do!” he admitted when discussing their drum battle. “I was literally being called out by the school bully — ‘I’ll see you on the playground after school!’ Every time she would put out these videos on her page, I’d be like, oh my God, I’m gonna get my ass kicked again.”
Though he conceded defeat, the epic battle gave us not only some great covers, but some pretty cool originals in "Nandi's Theme Song" and "Rock and Grohl, The Epic Battle," too. And let's not forget the pair's heartwarming meeting, which Grohl compared to meeting a Beatle.
Elsewhere in their chat, Grohl discussed the Foos' thwarted 25th anniversary plans and the creepy reason why Medicine at Midnight is only nine songs long. Watch the full interview above.
