Last month, Greta Van Fleet shared "Heat Above" — the latest single from their sophomore album The Battle At Garden's Gate — and this week they gifted fans with a live video of the ethereal track.
“‘Heat Above’ is theatrical, eloquent, and exaggerated,” the group explained in a statement. “This is a dream in the clouds, a moment of peace in the storm. Thematically, we are dead center in the cult of Heaven, surreal, strange, alive and free.”
The clip was filmed on the same tiered stage Greta Van Fleet performed on for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Watch it above.
"It’s very dynamic, lyrically speaking," frontman Josh Kiszka said about the album in a statement. "And that’s the human experience. It’s much more than pain or fear; it’s also beauty. People need people, and love is important. There was a lot of self-evolution happening during the writing of this album that was prompted by experiences I had, experiences we all had, so a lot of contemplation occurred.”
“It’s reflecting a lot of the world that we’ve seen, and I think that it’s reflecting a lot of personal truth," guitarist Jake Kiszka added. "What Josh does very well with the lyrics is telling ancient tales with a contemporary application.”
"Heat Above" is the third offering off The Battle At Garden's Gate, following "Age of Machine" and "My Way, Soon." The album is slated for an April 16 release and can be pre-ordered here.
