Jimmy Eat World should be on tour right now, but like so many other bands their plans were derailed by the coronavirus pandemic. Frontman Jim Adkins has shifted gears to focus on his new podcast and writing the follow up to last year's Surviving. Er, at least, one of the songs.
"I’ve been working on the same song for four months now! It might be time to try something different," he said during a recent video chat with RockSound.
"It’s hard to say ‘How complete is this?’ because until it’s done it’s not really anything. It’s not a question of, ‘I have this much more to go.’ It’s either done or it’s zero," he continued. "Progress can happen really quickly or you could be fighting a puzzle for a really long time. It’s nothing until that puzzle is solved. It’s really hard to gauge, ‘Well I only have this much more to go on it,’ because I don’t know how much more that is. I’m excited for it. I think it’s got potential. But I don’t know, it’s one of those things."
Thankfully, Pass-Through Frequencies is keeping Adkins' mind and creative juices flowing. "Doing the podcast thing is something that I can execute and I can stay busy with and it keeps my imagination going, and I think maybe in a little while the inspiration will catch up to the action," he admitted. "So hopefully I will finish it soon."
