One of our favorite cartoon bands has collaborated on a new song with Elton John.
Gorillaz's "The Pink Phantom" features both Sir Elton and hip-hop artist 6LACK and is included on Gorillaz upcoming album Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez.
Elton's part comes in at around the 1:30 mark. He's even represented by a cartoon avatar drawn in the Gorillaz's signature animation style.
"I've always been a Gorillaz fan so when Damon [Albarn] reached out and asked me to get involved it was a no-brainer," Elton wrote in a Tweet ahead of the collaboration's release. "The way the song turned out is just great — I can't wait for you to hear it."

In addition to Elton, Son Machine, Season One: Strange Timez, includes collaborations with Beck, Robert Smith, Peter Hook and St. Vincent.
The album arrives on October 23.
The Gorillaz track is Elton's second highest-profile collaboration this year — the first one being his contribution to the title track on Ozzy Osbourne's Ordinary Man album, which came out this past winter.
Elton recently postponed his North American 'Farewell, Yellow Brick Road' tour dates to 2022, on account of the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer says he's keeping busy at home, working on music and exercising every day.
