Noel Gallagher has never been a big "Wonderwall" fan

Oasis co-founder, guitarist and songwriter Noel Gallagher doesn't think his band's biggest hit really held up over time.
"'Wonderwall' is one of my least favorite songs because it's not finished," Gallagher told Mojo magazine. "If I could somehow twist time and go back there, I'd probably pick a different song for our calling card. Probably 'Some Might Say.'"
He qualified that Oasis's second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, is an outlier in the band's catalog because none of the songs were demoed before the band headed into the studio.
"I was writing on tour and I'd planned on finishing the songs when I got to the studio, and we just never got around to it. 'Cast No Shadow' is half-written. 'Wonderwall.' 'Morning Glory.'"
Gallagher has discussed "Wonderwall" often recently, looking back on 25 years since (What's the Story) Morning Glory? — an album that was recorded in less than two weeks.
In one interview last fall, he noted that no one in Oasis at the time could understand why the song became so huge. He added that his brother, Liam, disliked the song more than anyone.
Noel told Radio X last spring that he never felt like Oasis performed "Wonderwall" particularly well in concert. He says the song not feeling right probably came down to the fact that he rarely played acoustic guitar during Oasis shows.
"...[I]t never dawned on my to play it on acoustic guitar," he said. "I used to play it on electric guitar and I f---ing hated it. It was always too fast, and it was ... f---ing awful."
While the Gallagher brothers might agree with their misgivings about "Wonderwall," they're no closer to an Oasis reunion. Noel proclaimed again recently that "Oasis is done."
