Twenty One Pilots share a stripped-back version of "Heathens" and "Trees"

Twenty One Pilots have shared their stripped-back performance of "Heathens" and "Trees" to YouTube for fans to watch and enjoy. The performance initially took place last May during a special livestream to promote their most recent album, Scaled And Icy.

The event saw Twenty One Pilots playing an acoustic set before a dreamy background, fit with twinkling blue lights and a rising full moon. Tyler Joseph sings in a small boat while he strums his ukelele, a lone lamp propped up before him as he quietly performs. You can listen to the stripped-back performance through iHeartRadio here.

"Heathens" and "Trees" take on a more mournful tone in this acoustic version. The band's drummer, Tyler Dun, does not appear in the performance for "Heathens/Trees," the camera instead focusing solely on Joseph and the moon that stretches behind him and moves its way across the sky. Sparkling blue waves flash across the boat, the projected stars reflected on the ground underneath.

The quiet performance of the single follows Twenty One Pilots' reimagining ten of their biggest hits, including "Heathens," "Trees," "Stressed Out," "Tear In My Heart," "Ride," and more as lullabies. The band was able to play their first proper performance since 2019 on September 4 during Summerfest. The show marked the live debut of many songs featured on Scaled And Icy, including "Good Day" and "No Chances".

Twenty One Pilots will also be embarking on the TAKØVER TOUR at the end of this month, kicking off in Denver, Colorado for shows at Bluebird Theater, Ogden Theatre, The Mission Ballroom, and Ball Arena, then heading over to Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Columbus, Atlanta, Georgia, Mexico City, and London. Each city will find Twenty One Pilots spending a week as they move from venue to venue.
