Ireland Accidentally Makes Drugs Legal

An accident legal loophole has made several party drugs legal in Ireland - for a day.

A Court of Appeal ruling yesterday found ministerial orders governing drugs like ecstasy, ketamine and magic mushrooms under the country's Misuse of Drugs Act, were unconstitutional.

That means those drugs are currently legal.

Parliament has rushed through emergency legislation to fix the problem, but in Ireland the earliest new legislation can come into effect is midnight the day after it's passed.
