One Dead, One Seriously Injured In Auckland Shooting

One man is dead and another is seriously injured after a shooting in Auckland's Papakura early this morning.

A man has been charged with murder after the shooting about 1.15am on Railway St outside the Papakura Railway Station.

Two men were taken to Middlemore Hospital.

Police said a 26-year-old man was dead and a 27-year-old man remained in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

A hospital spokeswoman earlier this morning said two men were dead but police said that was incorrect.

Police a 28-year-old man has been charged with murder. He will appear in Papakura District Court on Monday.

A homicide inquiry is underway.
