Some people make the point that airlines should weigh passengers...if they have to pay more for an oversize bag, why shouldn't that obese person have to pay more? But it all has just seemed a bit extreme and ridiculous.
But now, it's a thing. According to Radio New Zealand, Hawiian Airlines has brought in a different type of ticketing policy. They now weigh passengers at check-in and then their seats are selected for them to ‘manage weight across the cabin.’
Apparently this policy came in after an increase in average passenger weight.
And, as you can imagine, people aren't too happy about it.
