Can you make sense of this image? Posted to Twitter, this spooky selfie is freaking out social media users.
The image shows a couple smiling for a selfie taken on a smartphone, with a woman's face inexplicably looking back in a reflection from the mirrored window behind them.
While the reflection of the man appears as expected, with the back of his head and hand holding the phone, the woman's face has turned to look at the camera.
Originally from social media site 9gag.com, the image was re-shared on Twitter with the caption: "What kinda devlish ting is going on?" The shot has been shared over 16,000 times.
Viewers posted that while it took them a moment to look beyond the smiling pair, they were quickly unnerved by the bizarre image.
Twitter user @teeyuh wrote: "It took me a minute to understand what was happening but when I did..." while @JunkieCentric posted: "I'm so scared right now I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight."
One user likened the image to Voldermort from Harry Potter: "OH! OMG, that's like Voldemort in the Sorcerer's Stone (turban and everything basically)."
Others remained skeptical, with some offering explanations for how the bizarre image came to be.
"Lol the people taking pic are inside, then there is people who look like them posing same lmfao fake." was the reasoning from @Cbone925.
@Homer_Slated suggested what people were seeing in the reflection was actually just an image on fabric: "Not a face, it's the scarf pattern."
Whether it's a scarf, another person or a Photoshop prank, the jury seems to be out on this spooky selfie.
