Akil Mitchell Added To NZ Breakers' Roster

The New Zealand Breakers have finalised their playing roster for the coming NBL season with the signing of American-Panamanian power forward Akil Mitchell.

The 206cm Mitchell joins the club from French outfit Olympique Antibes after an extensive College career with Virginia and stints in the NBA summer and development leagues.

"This is my first time coming to this part of the world," the 24-year-old Mitchell said.

"I've been looking forward to it since speaking with the coach.

"From the first phone call, it's been a pretty easy process."

Breakers coach Paul Henare said Mitchell's basketball skill set is perfect for them, but he fits the clubs values.

Impressed with his character, Henare said Mitchell optimises the values and culture the Breakers stand by.
