All Blacks and Hurricanes first five Beauden Barrett has re-signed with New Zealand Rugby.
Off contract at the end of the year, Barrett has agreed to a three year deal which will keep him on NZR's books until the end of 2019 season, and for the upcoming British and Irish Lions tour and the World Cup in Japan.
Barrett said he is just as excited to have re-signed with his Super Rugby club and provincial side.
"It's great to get things across the line and to resign with Taranaki firstly and the Hurricanes and obviously New Zealand. It's an exciting few years ahead and it's good to be back on-board."
Barrett said moving to another Super Rugby franchise or overseas never entered his mind.
"It's been a no-brainer for me, you know it was clear in my mind right from the start, though there was a bit of speculation."
With Barrett's recent rise in form, NZR boss Steve Tew said the announcement is a sweet success.
"He's taken time to think through what he wanted to do. But at no stage wavered from his vision to stay and play. And here in his form in the last few weeks not only made the negotiation more difficult, but also made it a lot easier."
Barrett's had a scintillating 2016, helping the Hurricanes to an inaugural Super Rugby title and cementing himself as the All Blacks first choice number 10.
