The Chiefs are declaring themselves pleased with a 24-22 Super Rugby win over the Sharks in New Plymouth.

The home side took advantage of some Sharks ill-discipline, with Aaron Cruden knocking over three second half penalties after the two sides were locked 15-all at halftime.

Co-captain Sam Cane says the Sharks showed why they beat the Highlanders last week.

"We've learnt in this comp pretty much every game is a 'toughie' so I think you only have to look at how the Sharks have played all season really, no team has put them away and they're a very tough side."

"A win is a win" he added.

Prop Mitchell Graham says it was a bit of a slog.

"It was a pretty physical battle, we knew it was going to be like that but I think we fronted up."

"It was a bit scrappy, but we got through and shut them down when we needed to."

The Western Force's losing streak has extended to seven matches after copping a 42-20 hiding from the Bulls in Perth.
