Grant Elliott Retires From ODIs

World Cup saviour Grant Elliott has retired from one-day internationals.

The 37-year-old told Newshub he's played his last 50-over game for New Zealand, finishing with a tally of 83 ODIs, a batting average of 34.06, bowling average of 30.23 and an economy rate of 5.43.

However, he will best be remembered for his six over long-on off South Africa's Dale Steyn, which took New Zealand into their first World Cup final with a ball to spare in March 2015. Elliott stooped to lift a distraught Steyn off the turf in the aftermath.

Elliott is yet to decide if he will continue in Twenty20 internationals.

"I'm going to reassess, let the dust settle," Elliott said.

"As long as I'm still enjoying my cricket, I haven't really made a call on anything yet.
"I've played my last one-day game, but there are three formats."

The Black Caps next international series is in Zimbabwe and South Africa in August.
