Paul Henare is likely to look internally rather than externally when recruiting new members of his Breakers coaching staff for next season
The Tall Blacks coach will have the reins of the Australian basketball league team, with Dean Vickerman stepping aside.
Henare says the twin announcements of his elevation and Dillon Boucher moving to general manager show the value of building from within.
"I believe there's more than enough experience and capabilities from the coaching staff we have here to slot into new roles," he said.
Tall Blacks assistant Ross McMains, who has NBA D-League experience won't be approached, with Henare saying he is on a different career path now.
"He'll always be a Breaker and always support us but the timing here, he's on a different path right now."
A new Basketball World Cup qualification format could cause some headaches however. There are windows in November and February and Henare says it's as much a question for how it'll work for him as it is for the league.
"Some forward thinking and planning might be needed when we go into those windows, November and February in particular."
