Mission achieved for the Highlanders in their mini-tour of Australia.
They're returning with nine competition points following a 27-3 victory over the Rebels in Melbourne to add to their win against the Waratahs last week.
Rob Thompson, Jack Wilson and Patrick Osborne scored tries as the visitors showed no signs of the defensive lapses that have cost them bonus points in recent weeks.
Coach Jamie Joseph said their defence was a major focus in the lead-up.
He said it's not good to let a big lead like that slip but the team is pro-active around that.
Joseph said his side brought heat on defence after letting in the late tries against the 'Tahs.
"I think defensively we put the team under a lot of pressure and set piece, as well around the field. Really proud of the boys, really proud of the bench that came on. That was a let down last week".
Their first two tries came courtesy of untidy kick receptions from the hosts and Joseph said that was deliberate.
He said the last two teams they've played have players in the line so they've kicked in behind.
