Panthers Terminate Cleary's Contract

Ivan Cleary has been sacked as coach of the Penrith Panthers.

The NRL club has dropped a bombshell in sacking the former Warriors coach, who still had a year to run on his contract.

Club general manager Phil Gould met Cleary and informed him of his contract termination today.

Gould thanks Cleary for a tremendous job over his four years, having laid down the foundation for the future.

In Cleary's four seasons, the Panthers made the top eight once, in reaching the preliminary finals last season.
