Pearce Fined For Video

Mitchell Pearce's Australia Day video will cost him heavily in the pocket.

The Roosters halfback has been fined $136,000 for his disorderly behaviour, as well as being suspended for the opening eight games of the NRL season.

The punishment means Pearce's hopes of keeping his NSW State of Origin jersey remain alive, having about a month to stake his claim for selection.

The NRL season starts tonight, with last year's runners-up Brisbane away to Parramatta.
