Two of the referees most involved in the controversial decision that effectively cost the Breakers a key win over Melbourne United have been stood down from the Australian basketball league.

The ANBL has apologised to the Breakers, saying a review has found the unsportsmanlike foul against Corey Webster in the dying stages in Melbourne should've been a straight foul and possession should've returned to the visitors.

The duo will have to undertake further training.

The ANBL has also implemented a new rule with immediate effect that will allow officials to refer any decision in the last two minutes of a game to be reviewed using replays.
