Smith, Bailey Centuries Carry Australia To Win

Centuries from captain Steve Smith and George Bailey have carried Australia to a five wicket win in the first one-day international against India in Perth.

After losing openers Aaron Finch and David Warner cheaply, the pair combined for a 242-run third wicket partnership as Australia chased down 310 for victory, with Smith scoring 149 and Bailey 112.

Earlier Indian opener Rohit Sharma carried his bat through the Indian innings, scoring 171.

Sharma had a second wicket partnership with Virat Kohli [Ko-lee] of 207 as India posted 309 for three off their 50 overs.

The second ODI in the five match series is in Brisbane on Friday.
