A superb Sri Lankan performance has pulled the ODI series against the Black Caps back to 2-1 after an eight wicket win in game three in Nelson.
Set 277 to win, the tourists have reached the target with more than three overs to spare with three half centuries including 91 from opener Tillakaratne Dilshan.
New Zealand was unable to find breakthroughs on a regular basis or stem the flow of Sri Lankan scoring, as they made a quick start to take the momentum away from the hosts.
Earlier, the Black Caps made 276 for eight, with Kane Williamson the only batsman to pass 50.
It ends the Black Caps winning run of home ODI matches at 12.
