All Black Sevens coach Sir Gordon Tietjens believes he's unearthed some top talent at the national tournament in Rotorua.
Augustine Pulu's been crowned player of the tournament as he guided Counties Manukau to a 54-14 win over North Harbour in the grand final.
Tietjens says Pulu, who is in the frame for his Rio Olympic squad, is making wonderful strides.
"I was pleased with the way he played. He set up about four tries in that final and was deservedly give Player of the Tournament...He's really come to grips with the game."
Tietjens says others outside his national squad have caught his eye.
"I've talked to a couple of players that really impressed me that could add value and a bit of size and a bit of pace."
Manawatu claimed its third women's title in four years, beating Wellington 26-19.
