Travel Blamed After Limp Breakers Lose

The Breakers have pointed to their laughable travel schedule as a reason for their ANBL grand final capitulation.

The Wildcats have captured their seventh title with a 75-52 game three mauling in Perth.

The Breakers produced their worst scoring game in history, missing their first nine shots and shooting at just 27 percent.

Over the past week the side has travelled 16,000 kms, spending 22 hours in the air.

Forward Tom Abercrombie believes the travel took its toll.

"I don't really need to tell you about how challenging that is, it's pretty self explanatory, and to do that with three games in five games is a tough schedule."

However, it doesn't mask the fact that the Breakers were woeful offensively, with Tom Abercrombie the only player to score in double digits with 21.

"We didn't play like we needed to, and it's disappointing to play like that in a game that meant so much," said Abercrombie.

Coach Dean Vickerman said having point guard Cedric Jackson fouling out without scoring for the first time in his ANBL career hurt them.

"He's something that we rely on a lot to create some offence and he's not playing up to his standard, and fouling out pretty early."

"It was a pretty big ask for a development player to come in and lead our team."

Perth's Damian Martin was awarded the ANBL's grand final MVP.
