Uncertainty For Cowboys To Repeat Last Season

There is some wariness around the Cowboys for the new NRL season.

The defending champions are expected to challenge for the title again, having kept a large majority of their squad from last year.

Respected Fox Sports commentator Greg Alexander says they will there or thereabouts, but it's hard to go back-to-back.

Alexander said it'll be tough for them because, all of a sudden, when a team is defending champions everyone wants to knock them off.

"They're in for a tough one. South Sydney found that out last year. All of a sudden when you're the champs everyone wants to knock you off. It's a long year and so much can happen through a year."

Alexander believes the Broncos are the favourites to win this year.

The season starts on Thursday, with teams due to name their 17s today.
