The Black Caps have completed their two day practice match against Western Australia in Perth with the pink ball.
New Zealand posted 426 with Martin Guptill hitting 103 and BJ Watling 81.
Commentator Bryan Waddle described it as an ideal day batting with the pink ball, but there was a collapse under lights with New Zealand losing 4 for 35 late in the day.
Coach Mike Hesson said it went well.
"Obviously good for Guppy to get some confidence today, and he played the was he plays best. A few of the other guys got some valuable time, especially at the end."
Hesson was in no doubt "there are some different characteristics. Obviously starting later, a lot more drying time in the surface, so that could come into consideration. That's something we need to gather some more information on."
The Black Caps are cautiously optimistic seamer Trent Boult will play in the third and deciding day-night test.
Boult's trying to recover from a disc problem in his back and didn't bowl in the warm-up match.
Hesson said he did have a run in the nets.
"The plan was that he bowled this morning, so he got through that okay. I guess we'll just have to see how he travels to Adelaide."
Hesson is not willing to rule him in or out.
"I wouldn't say I'm either really. We've got a plan and he's going to have to bowl flat out two days out from the test match. If he's able to get through that he'll be considered for the test."
The day night test in Adelaide starts on Friday.
