Kieran Foran is heading home.
The playmaker's signed with the Warriors on a one year deal after almost two months of negotiations.
The Warriors and Foran have agreed to terms however the NRL still need to give the deal the green light.
The 20-test Kiwis five-eighth joined the Eels this year after seven years with the Sea Eagles, but played only nine matches before suffering a season-ending shoulder injury.
The chance for a new start in New Zealand away from the spotlight of Sydney’s media glare is understood to be part of the appeal of Foran joining the Warriors, and brings a wealth of experience, including a grand final win.
His time out of the game also featured a stint in a rehab clinic following the breakdown of his marriage, as well as links to match fixing.
Foran's been linked to controversial betting identity Eddie Hayson, and will need to assure the NRL he's dealt with all of his off-field issues before being given the all clear.
Warriors managing director Jim Doyle says “Kieran and I have been in contact throughout the year and I know he has made a lot of progress with the challenges he has had. I’m extremely pleased to have him on board.”
