New Zealand's third woeful performance against top test opposition in recent times could bring about changes to the BLACKCAPS touring party to India.

Mike Hesson's squad have suffered a 204 run loss to South Africa as well as a seven-wicket and an innings and 52-run defeat to Australia at home.

The BLACKCAPS will return home for a week before departing for a three-test tour of the sub-continent.

Hesson says it'll be a specialist group, a side "that suits the conditions in India and obviously we picked a side here for two tours," he said.

Henry Nicholls and Neil Wagner were described as bright spots of the tour to the continent, with Wagner taking twenty wickets through four tests, including two five-wicket hauls.

Hesson said Wagner's short pitch bowling is on the money, and "the fact he just keeps running in when it's flat, picks up top order wickets which is critical for us."
