Radio Hauraki Brewery Tour - Day 5 Diary

After a few days off and a return to (relative) normal life, the Brewery Tour kicked off again with Week 2 beginning at Dr. Rudis in Auckland. Outside the weather was rubbish but inside the beers were flowing and once again Jon Toogood was blasting tunes at the peak of the sound system.
The venue provided Jon some new opportunities to adventure, climbing on benches, walls and hanging from the rafters. At one point he climbed on a table where some ladies were having some completely unrelated work drinks and stepped into between pizzas to put on a show for the girls.Â
The star if the evening, however, was Uncle Haurangi from the office who put on a show with his freestylin' to Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar. I wished I could have celebrated like Ovechkin did for the days following winning the Stanley Cup but we had a plane to catch in the morning to head to Christchurch.Â
As we boarded the plane bound for sunny Canterbury we were missing one member. G Lane had pulled pin following an innocent conversation with his 4-year-old daughter. The words "Daddy doesn't live here anymore. There aren't enough beers here" cut deep and he handed his ticket to Tom Pranks.Â
The last time Tom was on the road was the infamous "Bluff Oyster Run" and the credit card incident. Perhaps this is Lane's devious plan for some kind of payback when Tom is broken tomorrow... We'll see.
Luckily or unluckily there was a French rugby team also on the flight who destroyed the toilet in G Lane's honour. Thanks mate!Â
As the great New Zealanders at Rydges deliver us some free beers to the room it's time to quickly knock one back and head to Blue Smoke.
See yah there!Â
Massive thanks to the great New Zealanders at Jack Links for making the Brewery Tour possible.Â
