Highlights of the Radio Hauraki Kiwipong World Series 2016

256 teams from around the country invaded Hopetoun Alpha in Auckland on Saturday for the Radio Hauraki World Series of Kiwipong. On the line was not only bragging rights but $10,000 cash!

With competition beginning at 12.30pm it wasn’t until after 7pm and a long day of intense action that we got to the business end of the competition.

In an shock upset, last year’s defending champions Beerview Mirrors from Auckland were knocked out before even reaching the Quarter-Finals. Leaving the draw open for last year’s beaten finalists Puzzles from Christchurch and the 2014 champions Let’s Get Tropical from Tauranga.

In the end it was Handi-Cup from Auckland against Let’s Get Tropical in the winner take all final which came down to a nail biting end with both teams only having one cup each left on the table.

A clutch shot from Let’s Get Tropical handed them the title and suitcase full of $10K.
